MCM Attic Living & Dining — Olive, Red & Warm Oak

The Story

A top-floor attic apartment redesigned around a mid-century modern aesthetic — where sloped ceilings and exposed beams became the strongest design feature rather than a spatial limitation. The brief called for warmth, character, and a space that felt like it had been lovingly collected over decades. The palette is grounded in warm oak flooring, an olive accent wall, and a recurring terracotta-red that runs through the Eames DSW chairs, throw, and accessories — giving the space visual rhythm without feeling matchy. The marble-top dining table anchored by Saarinen Tulip chairs sits directly under the skylight, making it the most naturally lit spot in the room by design. In the living area, a Wassily chair and Noguchi coffee table do the heavy lifting as furniture-as-sculpture. The vinyl shelf, globe pendant, and Verpan Sun wall lamp on the olive wall signal a client who lives in culture, not just comfort. Lighting was designed across two moods — bright daytime with skylight drama, and golden-hour evening warmth with layered lamps. Both versions were rendered and delivered.
