Amsterdam Apartment – Dopamine Decor Living Room

The Story

This project was for a young client living in a compact Amsterdam apartment. His vision was clear: a cozy, playful, and personality-filled living room rooted in the Dopamine Decor trend, with touches of mid-century style. The goal was to bring energy and warmth into the space without making it feel cluttered. The main challenge was balancing bold design elements (like a checkerboard rug, colorful artwork, and quirky accessories) with smart space planning and visual calm. The client also requested very specific furniture dimensions — especially for the sofa (max width 2.41m) — and wanted a corner-lounge feel without overwhelming the room. I carefully selected a modular sofa + pouf combination to maintain comfort and flexibility. Lighting was layered naturally across pendant, floor, and table lamps to avoid harshness. A bold rug, a matte black arc lamp, offset wall shelving, and a curated mix of playful decor (including his disco croissant!) helped strike the right emotional tone. Everything was modeled and styled with 1:1 real-world accuracy using shoppable links available in the Netherlands. The result? A warm, inviting space filled with personality — fully customized to the client's lifestyle and taste. He was thrilled with the final render and the detailed shopping list, which made it easy for him to bring the vision to life in real time.
